Please note that as per our letter there is no cost to be listed on the directory and there will never be :) We have received government funding and donations of services like our fax services, database and other software. If we start to charge medical practices then we will loose most of our discounted and or free services that we receive.
In relation to the AHPRA Registration numbers, for our due diligence and for our audit and quality assurances needs and requirements we need to make sure that all of the practitioner's that are listed are registered and have no conditions on them that would prevent them from seeing Veteran patients ect. This is the quickest way that we have found that and we note that Medicare provider numbers will not do this and they are more heavily protected (they have their own legislation for that) by medicare due to the fraud possibilities. Every Practitioner is listed on the AHPRA website along with their AHPRA Registration numbers so we are not asking for anything that is not already in the public domain. Further more having the Registration numbers helps us make sure that we spell the practitioner's name correctly.
When we refer to Treatment Cards we refer to DVA Gold, White and in some circumstances Orange Cards. Further Information about this can be found on the DVA Website - https://www.dva.gov.au/providers/dva-health-cards. Please note that for a practice to be listed on the directory the practice must not charge any additional amounts on top of the DVA schedule or any other form of “GAP” and or any further payments due by the veteran.
The Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR) is a shared electronic health summary set up by the Australian government with implementation overseen by the National Electronic Health Transition Authority (NEHTA). The purpose of the PCEHR is to provide a secure electronic summary of people's medical history which will eventually include information such as current medications, adverse drug reactions, allergies and immunisation history in an easily accessible format. This PCEHR is stored in a network of connected systems with the view to improving the sharing of information amongst health care providers to improve patient outcomes no matter where in Australia a patient presents for treatment. It is currently an opt-in system with a unique individual healthcare identifier (IHI) being assigned to participants and the option of masking and limiting information available for viewing controlled by the patient or a nominated representative. Further information about The PCEHR or E-Health Records please go to https://myhealthrecord.gov.au/internet/mhr/publishing.nsf/content/home
In relation to DVA Training we are referring to any training that a practitioner has done with DVA. We recommend (however its not required for listing) that your practitioners complete the “Understanding The Military Experience” training on the DVA website (this is free and attracts some continual training points in certain circumstances) - https://www.dva.gov.au/providers/online-training-health-providers. If you have been a member of the Australian Defence Force and or Active ro Standby Reserves you have completed this training as part of your IMPS and Initial Training.
